The Director of Purchasing- Apparel manages $200+ Million Dollars in spend. This highly visible position will develop, coordinate and manage sourcing plans that create maximum benefits for the business. He/She will be challenged to identify and implement significant cost reduction strategies while improving quality and service, requiring in-depth analysis of global supply markets and sourcing from globally competitive suppliers. He/She will apply sophisticated, often cross-functional, approaches such as should-cost analysis, make versus buy analysis, Low Cost Country sourcing (China, Mexico, Eastern Europe), product standardization and supplier cost improvements. He/She will manage stakeholder interests and supplier interactions, design sourcing projects for success, and ensure appropriate resources/commitment to implement results. Assess and prioritize strategic sourcing opportunities to achieve divisional and corporate objectives. Has ultimate responsibility for project content and strategy including: project and sourcing strategy, spend segmentation, supply market analysis, supplier capability assessment, supplier recruitment and management, analysis of complex data, developing a business case for improved supply and managing projects across multiple sites Applies disciplined project management and change management techniques to support strategic sourcing process. Responsible for ensuring project management milestones are met; reports and systems are current, and deliverables are on time and of high quality.He/She will also be responsible for performance tracking activities including sourcing savings, contract compliance and other measures. Manage relationships with stakeholders to create common goals, strong motivation and effective execution.
QUALIFICATIONS: Formal Training/Education: Bachelors Degree Required Business or Supply Chain Majors preferred, MBA preferred. Experience: 7+ years with experience in a leading multinational Apparel/Textile corporation, Skills and Abilities: • Must have demonstrated track record of proven success in meeting aggressive cost reduction and productivity targets • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and problem solving skills. • Previous successful experience in Low Cost Country sourcing (China, Mexico, India, Latin America and other emerging Markets) • Ability to apply a range of negotiation techniques • Strong understanding of supply chain principles • Demonstrated teamwork skills for coordinating/facilitating across functions and companies • Leadership abilities to challenge the status quo, teach and motivate a cross-functional team to deliver results and manage through the challenges typically seen in a change management program
